Kawakawa Body Oil

Our non-greasy, non-oily kawakawa oil is a beautifully soft moisturiser for sensitive skin and all skin types. 100% natural and manufactured by us in Aotearoa New Zealand, Oriwa Naturals Kawakawa Body Oil can also be used as a non-clogging facial cleansing oil and moisturiser, and even a very light hair oil that won't weigh it down - we are all about skinimalism at Oriwa Naturals! 

This is Oriwa Natural's best skincare product for sensitive skin. As it has only three ingredients (kawakawa infused extra virgin olive oil, apricot kernel oil, and an essential oil blend) there is very little that could irritate your skin - making it an excellent moisturizer for eczema, psoriasis, or dermatitis. In addition, the most common chemical compound in kawakawa, pellitorine, has a light numbing effect which is great for calming dry and itchy skin.

This is our lightest skincare product. The extra virgin olive oil we use is from Robinson's Bay Olives in sunny Akaroa and is rich in polyphenols (very good for your skin), while the apricot kernel oil is super light and absorbent so it won't leave a greasy residue.

Oriwa Naturals Kawakawa Body Oil can also be used as a mother and baby oil, aftershave for men, aromatherapy body massage oil, and even a luxuriant bath oil.

What is kawakawa?

Kawakawa is a native New Zealand plant used for generations by Rongoā Māori practitioners in teas, tinctures, and topical balms for its incredible healing ability. Kawakawa is a powerful antioxidant and anti-inflammatory, often used to help calm dry, itchy and inflamed skin. It grows in native bush near coasts and waterways and is famous for its leaves with holes - yes, the grandfather leaves with the most holes are the ones to pick! The reason for this is that kawakawa is the only plant in the world that self-heals, flooding damaged leaves with protective chemical compounds. 

We are grateful for the knowledge about kawakawa benefits and medicinal uses that we owe to the tangata whenua of Aotearoa New Zealand. All our kawakawa is wild harvested and infused by us; we follow tikanga as much as we are able in our harvesting practice.
